India has introduced new customs declaration requirements for fabric exporters from November 1, requiring specified cotton, synthetic and knitted fabrics to disclose their flame-retardant status in export filings. The change aims to improve product classification and transparency in export documentation.
According to Fibre2Fashion's TexPro analysis, India's fabric exports across the specified categories reached billions of dollars in FY 2024–25, with exports showing renewed growth during April–July 2025. The new reporting requirement comes alongside the reopening of applications for textile manufacturing incentives, marking another significant policy development for India's textile industry.
