India and Switzerland have agreed to deepen trade, investment and economic cooperation. The two countries signed five agreements during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin on Monday.
A key focus was improving market access for Indian exports to Switzerland. The two sides also agreed to make investment between the countries easier.
The agreements include a migration and mobility partnership. India and Switzerland also signed a young professionals exchange scheme. Another major pact will support cooperation in transportation technology, mobility systems and infrastructure development.
The talks also covered nuclear energy and defence cooperation. Both sides discussed ways to expand collaboration in these areas.
The Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia were also discussed. Modi said India and Switzerland support meaningful efforts to promote peace.
Parmelin is on a three-day state visit to India. It is his first state visit to the country and his second visit this year. He had earlier visited India to attend the AI Impact Summit in February.
The latest agreements mark another step in strengthening India Switzerland trade ties. Greater market access, investment cooperation and mobility are expected to support stronger economic links between the two countries.
