India Launches Anti-Dumping Probes into Five Chinese Products

India has launched anti-dumping probes into five Chinese products following complaints from domestic manufacturers. The investigations are being conducted by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Ministry of Commerce.

The products under investigation include persulphates, clavulanic acid, counterbalance forklifts, internally grooved copper tubes and pipes, and caprolactam. Persulphates and caprolactam are also used in textile-related applications, while clavulanic acid is an active pharmaceutical ingredient.

Domestic companies have alleged that low-priced Chinese imports are affecting their businesses and have sought anti-dumping duties.

The DGTR will examine whether these products are being imported from China at dumped prices and whether the imports are causing material injury to Indian manufacturers. If the investigation confirms dumping and injury, the DGTR may recommend anti-dumping duties.

The final decision on imposing such duties rests with the Ministry of Finance. The latest investigations come amid concerns over China's industrial overcapacity and the potential impact of low-cost Chinese imports on Indian industries.
